YOUTH SAVINGS PROGRAM

I enjoyed it today with the youths in my place. I introduced a savings program for them with my sons as members, too.  The savings will be done weekly, out of their daily allowance, with a very meager amount. After six months of depositing the weekly savings, the officers after having decided on the mechanics on how to loan the money to its own members, the total deposited money will earn interest. Loans incurred will earn at least 2% interest.  Proceeds from the interests will be divided to all members as dividends at the year end. They may opt to deposit their dividend as additional to exisiting deposit to earn bigger dividend in the succeeding years.  

I hope this will succeed. I only wanted to inculcate upon the youths the value of saving and building a good financial character.

JOSE MARI CHAN'S CONCERT

Jose Mari Chan is already a legend in singing. For 38 years now that he has been singing, its as if his voice never faded. His beautiful wife was with him, and i came to know that one of his songs entilted "Sad Refrain", was written in memory of his depression over her girlfriend of 2 years who left to be a missionary in a foreign land. In his sadness, he sat down and composed this song and recorded it in a cassette tape and sent it to his gf.  He recounts her gf probably liked the song because 4 years after, her gf went back and became his wife.

PASSPORT RENEWAL

I will be renewing my passport, today. It will expire in January 2009, yet but i shall have to renew it at this early for my future travels in other countries, soon.  Hopefully, the passport processing will be expedited. I am excited for my travel, soon.

You may have been hearing over the tri-media about a great number of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. In fact, over the past five years the people affected have rose to threefolds and affects the rapidly-aging population. What is Alzheimer's disease or AD? It is a disease causing both structural and chemical problems in the brain. It appears to disconnect areas of the brain that normally work together. About 10 percent of all people over 70 have significant memory problems and about half of those are due to AD. The number of people with AD doubles each decade past age 70. 

A thorough research for its causes and eventually find a solution to this disease is now underway. That is why  the organizers of the Alzheimer's Association will try to conduct an Alzheimer's Memory Walk to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Be a volunteer now and lead the community to join this walk. 
 
 It is easy to join. Recruit others to join in this walk and be the team captain of your group for a typical Memory Walk of a 2-3 mile held on a weekend morning in the fall.  Click on the box above for more information on which community there are walks in the more than 600 identified communities. Together, let us lead a fight against Alzheimer, for it may be upon us, soon.

IT GADGETS, A CURSE AND A BLESSING

I first realized i might have a problem while doing my office work at home. I brought homeworks from the office and laid the documents on the table when i spotted my computer.

Soon, i was reading my emails, opening my dashboards for tasks from advertisers and checking for offline messages in my YM.  Then i felt a pang: what's wrong with me? I'm supposed to finish my office tasks as i was earlier determined to finish them at home.

Most of the times, i meet with friends and sit on a table to wait for snacks. We each have cellfones-linked to the Internet. Other friends have a laptop. We talk while scanning the cellfones for emails, and those with laptop access their emails throught the internet or play online games.   Our mobile phones are within easy reach, at any given moment we can watch tv on a restaurant tv screen. 

I realized just now, that we are having information overload. We seem to digest all this stimulation easily, but wouldn't it be nice every so often to have a pleasant one-on-one conversation? Sure, it happens, (we're not robots, yet) but the more we've got used to keeping all this stuff turned on,  the harder it gets to shut off any of it off.

living this way is a blessing and a curse. It offers a level of convenience unimaginable a decade ago. But, it also encourages some of us to indulge our weaker impulses. The impulse, for example, to seelk distraction over peace and quiet.

MY NEW EMERSON UPS IS DEFECTIVE

I bought an Emerson UPS 660 VA last month to replace my Giant 500VA UPS. The other day when computer technician was here, he installed it. I observed occurrences of ticking sound in it from time to time. Everytime it happens, i get an internet disconnection. At first, i shrugged off the idea that my new UPS was defective. The next day it was still the same, the ticking sound increased and my disconnection became frequent.  I decided to put back my old UPS now as i was fed up already with being disconnected time and again. My old UPS is still doing the power regulation but it does not anymore store power. Anyhow, my new UPS that pissed me off will be returned to the computer store to request for its replacement.

Jose Mari Chan will be performing live at the Palo Leyte Academic Center. He, along with Sheryn Regis and matinee idol Albert Martinez are specail guests of Jose Mari Chan. Albert Martnez? Why does he sing,  i mean is he a singer?  I don't know. Maybe, because he has the guts to perform side by side with Jose Mari Chan.  Well, the handsome and debonaire Gov. Icot-Petilla will also sing as one of the special guests. I know he sings very well. He is handsome, too. He is my crush, and i blush whenever he talks to me. Aaah, he is really super handsome. I had a ticket for the July 26 performance but i gave it to a friend as i wont be home yet by that time.

Between the ages of 18 - 21 a woman is like Brazil or Borneo. She is half discovered, half wild and naturally beautiful .

Between the ages of 21 - 30 a woman is like America or Japan. Completely discovered, very well developed .

MY VOICE IS COMING BACK

I used to sing in contests way back when i was in the elemetary. In my high school i rarely joined contest anymore as i was feeling the shame of singing infront of people and at times over the radio. I wanted to enroll me in voice lessons and be a professional singer but my late father disallowed me. I contend to joining the choir in church and in office, too. Lately for 4 months i got this hoarsevoice. Thanks heavens, my voice is back now to normal. I can now sing, again

NEVER EVER READY TO DIE

Death is inevitable. It could happen at anytime, anyday and most at a time when one is not ready yet to surrender his life. But who is? By tradition, I was in a wake last night at an officemate's whose mother died at the age of 86. Believe me even at this age, the mother was not ready to die yet as she fought for her life. She died of cirhosis of the liver and i guessed it was painful for her. But mind you, the mother was painless even with that ailment. Well, who would say that cirhosis of the liver happen to smokers and drinkers? The mother did not smoke nor drink alcoholic drinks. She got it from taking medicines that damaged her kidney and liver. She was old already and i thought then that her internal organs wanted already to rest. I just pray for the eternal repose of her soul and may she meet the Almighty Father in heaven.

IM A NEWBIE BAKER, NOT BAD THOUGH

Cooking is not my favorite stuff. When i was in high school, when it was cooking time for my Home Economics class, i dont mind to join and would prefer instead to go to play the piano in the living room.  We had some cooking of cakes, pasta and soup but i never learned for lack of interest.

Now that i am already a mother and my kids are already grown ups, i prefer to cook for their happiness. I love to bake cakes because they are there to help me. Well, baking cakes is easy if there is a recipe. I try some deviations and so far, the results of a newbie baker was not bad, though. Maybe, i should have to watch a real baker bake some cakes so i will learn more.

I AM AWARDED AN ARTHRITIS, I DONT DESERVE THIS

I guess i have arthrits. I have this back pain that runs down through my right leg. Its not that sore but i feel this pain in my back especially last week. I am glad that the pain is slowly diminishing now. I figure that i need to avoid repeated jarring activities, such as high-impact aerobics activities. I need to exercse regularly and control my weight. These were the preventive measures i read to avoid having arthritis. I wish the pain will be totally gone, soon.

VOLLEYBALL IS ADDICTIVE

Daughter is a city player in volleyball. When she was a college student, she was a varsity player in her school. Now, that she is already working she is still a city player. MY INTERNET CONNECTION IS BACK

My internet connection was down since yesterday and just went back now. I am glad it was activated again now. I realize it is very sad and lonely without my internet connection.  I can't blog and no earning opportunities. This has really been a part of my life.  I am addicted to my computer, i guess. Well, what can i do? It is what i feel. 

DIRT DEVIL BUT HEAVENLY CLEANS

Cooking, laundry, ironing, or cleaning the house? My favorite chore at home is cleaning the house from my bedroom, to the living room, kitchen and to the rest room. Cleaning is my favorite stuff, its as if i find relief once i see the house clean and organized. But, there is a problem when my system gets engulfed with laziness. I just avoid cleaning and instead task our helper to do the cleaning, and i make a close supervision.

I am very meticulous on dusting the furnitures and other areas of the house. My helper gets wary i know when i become meticulous and makes her repeat all over the cleaning to my satisfaction. I have planned of buying a new vacuum cleaner to clean on tough dirts . DIARRHEA IS A HELP IN GETTING RID OF BODY INFECTION

My niece has a diarrhea when i went off for office today. I have read in the internet that it is not advisable to get a medication within the first 6 hours of diarrhea, because diarrhea often helps get rid of body infection. I DON'T HAVE A "GREEN THUMB" ANYMORE

I was born in the month of flowers, yes May, and flowers always fascinate me. Ten years ago in my backyard i grew orchids and many other flowering and ornamental plants.  Due to my busy schedule when i had my job up to 5 pm and schooling at night which led me to arrive home at 10pm, my plants withered.  At first i took time to water them even at 11 in the evening but eventually i was too tired to attend to them. I lend my orchids to one of my officemates and gave away the others to friends where they could be better attended to.

Since then, i think the flowers and plants got slighted with me. I used to be a "green thumb" , but when i decided to plant back again, after my busy schedule was lifted, the plants would not "blossom" anymore.  I buy plants, which have flowers already, but after they wither they don't blossom anymore. I just hope that this one i bought in the fiesta fair, since it is starting to wither off, will give me flowers soon.

My kids are especially crazy about these online games.  I already talked to them that its a waste of money to be playing in the internet cafe when they can't use my computer because i am blogging , but it seems i can't stop them.  Kids will always be kids.  They just love computer games and just lately they are prodding me to buy a CD on the Dungeon Runners online, which have added a very exciting character in the game, the Bling Gnome.

I was aghast that gnomes are being liked about now. In my childhood times, i am scared with the mention of gnomes because gnomes either give wealth or destruction and my father use to tell me a story that they live under our jackfruit tree. I have wanted my father to talk to the gnome so it would give us gold, but he would just laugh at me.

In the game Dungeon Runners, "bling" means gold or jewelry.  A player is lucky if he has a "bling gnome", as he will have someone following him around to help. Gnomes in the Dungeon Runners are very helpful creatures and they pick up anything the player drops to the ground and turn them into gold. It is a very exciting game, and it will bring players into the fantasy of magic.  I will accede to my children's request for this Dungeon Runners. At least, they would have the modern version of the old fairytales of gnomes.
