AHEAD DRUM CASES

Christmas songs are now aired in the radios and played in television. In many places, people are now rehearsing for the songs to be used in Christmas caroling which starts in December 16. Band members would gather and install their band apparatuses such as guitars, trumpet, keyboard, drums and ahead drum cases. Some would have violins and clarinets, too.  The more musical instruments, the merrier.  It is exciting and relaxing to hear a band sing Christmas carols. Makes one forget his hardships in life and instead thank for a year of victory and hopes for a brighter year ahead.

DISASTER AWARENESS

Those who have less in life should have more. I am referring to the marginalized sectors in the community who have less knowledge on the risks posed by hazards on their lives, their livelihood, their settlements and on their possessions. Knowledge is power so these people have to be empowered on the right things to do before calamities, man-made or natural, strike a disaster. Community awareness can never be late.  This was what kept me busy these past two Saturdays and Sundays. Managing a Community Awareness on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. Together with trained personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection and of the Philippine Red Cross, the activity was successful attended by a big number of community people. It feels good to have been part of this noble undertaking which aims to have a safe, adaptive and disaster resilient Filipino communities.

MUSIC EQUIPMENT

Music plays a very important role in every one's life.  Each person has its own story to tell regarding the goodness of having music in his life. I have a share of my stories, too.  Music to me is a way of life. It is an integral part of my personality.  It is unusual, if I will not sing in music Karaoke Television (KTVs), if I will not turn on the car stereo on my way to my destination points and if I will not watch the Music Television (MTV) during Sundays. Lately then, I have been missing these music sorties as I need to buy a new entertainment set. It has been destroyed during the typhoon. I looked for an entertainment and music players online and I had just clicked on a site saying Send for our free catalog. When I have acquired this music entertainment it would be an early Christmas gift. The house will be filled again with singing every weekends in the coming days.

HEALTHY LIVING

Health and wellness are my concerns and should be every one's too especially those at age 40's.  Lack of concern for health has no room to play if one likes to avoid health problems in the near future. The body's metabolism, meaning, the ability of the body to burn out fat and nutrients become slower than when younger. One frequently wonders and says he eats lesser amounts of food than before but he does not go thin after all.  Slow body metabolism is the answer to this.  The body's ability to burn fats cholesterol and other nutrients in the body goes less quicker with age.  So, good luck and congrats to those who really have the zeal to practice healthy lifestyle for healthy living.

COUCH CUSHIONS

My one year old car needs some seat upholstery.  Relatively, it is still presentable. However, it does not look dainty to me anymore.  The seats, the back seat especially, received all sorts of spills from beverages and food as well as mess from bags and grocery items put on top of the seat.  I wanted it replaced with a new seat cover and a beautiful and cozy one like that at couch cushions from foambymail.com.  I can now imagine the customized cushion cover I would like to don on the car seat covers.  I will make the cushions look according to my style and comfort. Most of all, it will have a feminine touch and look.

GOLD BRACELET LOST

What an unfortunate day it was for me. I lost my gold bracelet that costs more than tens of thousands. It got lost on my way home from Cebu City. Lesson learned out of it is to never ever wear genuine jewelries while on travel.  The lock of that bracelet must have been accidentally opened as I was putting off and on my backpack.  I noticed its loss an hour after arrival at home.  I made efforts to locate it at the car of an officemate who gave me a lift from airport to home but it was not there in the car.  I felt sad about it as I lost a precious investment.  I hope whoever finds it will use the bracelet for the good of his family.

PREMIER TABLE LINENS

It is all in the package.  This is what I usually hear everywhere. In party invitations, what is attractive in the venue is the physical arrangements.  The furniture, the curtains, the venue painting should match with the table linens.  It is sometimes difficult to look from closets and drawers whether you have premier table linens that match the venue furniture, curtains or paintings.  Well, premiere table lines could be obtained in just a mouse click.  Table linens are not a problem where to look  for, Just a click here and this will direct to a site of premiere table linens. Select from a variety of table linens that suit your taste.

NEW CELFONE

This month of September, I am eyeing a new celfone.  I would like to pamper myself with a new communication gadget. This is for the hard days work I have been doing all these years. I would like to own a high end celfone but for practical reasons I will only buy one that is averaged price and can download as many applications as I would like to download,. Gee, I am already excited. This is going to be an early Christmas present for me.

CUPBOARDS AND DRAWER SLIDES

It has been five years ago since the last major refurbishment made to my house.  Since then the house maintenance received simply comprised of cleaning. There is a wall leakage that I have been grappling with for a more than a year now.  I had it fixed but the leak is still there. As a result, the cupboards got rotten and some cabinet drawers got stucked and could hardly be opened.  The fix should start from the source of the leak. I am just waiting for this rainy season to be over so I can have a house repair in this part of the kitchen. I would need ready to install cupboards and 36" Drawer Slides. I try to maintain a cozy home, but until these repairs are done, my house is not worth the visit.

CAR REPAIR

The city fiesta in my place is long gone and over last June 30 but I can't help but recall the trace it left with my one year old car. It left dents and car scratches and its front signal light cover on the left side broke. My daughter drove the car on June 27 when many entertainment shows and attractions were held in the downtown area. Daughter never elaborated the details on how the car got those traumas. I smelled something fishy why she kept mum over the car damage thing. The car had a fantastic repair as it now looks like brand new all over again. Thanks to the car repair mechanic and the car shop owner who fixed the car in three days at a lower cost. Driving experience with a car that just had damage lowers self-confidence. It is an unexplainable feeling. But now no more. The car is now looking fresh and new like it never had any car damage at all.

MOTHER IS DEAD AT 88

After the traumatic typhoon Yolanda six month ago, another traumatic experience is here to set in.  My mother died at 88 years old.  She died during the celebration of my natal day last May 18.  It is another painful experience for me losing a mother.  I will never get to call my ever patient and understanding "Inay" ever again.  She celebrated here 88 years old last year and I thought she would still have more birthdays to come but she succumb to cardiovascular stroke last May 18.  It was her third stroke attack.  The wake is being done now at the St. Peter Memorial until May 23.  On May 24 at 8am, her remains will have the internment at the Catholic Cemetery in Tacloban City.  I pray that her soul rest in peace.

WIFI ACCESS

I am now in Cebu City for a speaking engagement starting tomorrow until Friday.  It feels good to be in a place free from traces of typhoon destructions. Foremost, I enjoy the fast internet connection access provided by the hotel to my laptop.  Apparently, I am enjoying the wifi connection because from night right after dinner until this early morning I am still awake scouring the blogosphere and the web world.  I am not mindful of the time even if I still have a speaking engagement tomorrow morning. Well, I hope to explore the net more and I can't get enough of it. I hope to still sleep even for only a couple of hours before my speaking engagement.  I just love it here in Cebu City, because of the fast wifi connection which I have been deprived in Tacloban City, after typhoon Yolanda striked.

FAST INTERNET CONNECTION

What a way to enjoy an internet connection while sipping iced tea or any juice drinks in the hotel where I went this afternoon with a friend. The hotel is right within the heart of the city. I met with a friend in this hotel to talk about my insurance advisorship and I was glad with the fast wifi connection the hotel has. The hotel has very reasonable restaurant food rates. I am sure to be back there within this week. I hope to bring there a client.

ANTIVIRUS

Just as I suspected my laptop was really infected with viruses.  I bought an anti virus last year and had only installed it successfully today.  The activation code could not be successfully encoded without an internet connection the reason why it was only installed now.  A stream of viruses were detected and cleaned when a scan was made in the whole computer system.  It really pays to have an updated anti virus to a laptop otherwise the life span of the laptop will be shortened.  Also, the files you have exerted efforts to store will be in the risk of being infected.

OPIATE DRUG DETOX

I was just mentioning about problems in my previous posts and here I am again mentioning about them.  I am glad that I don't engage in drugs as my coping mechanism.  For some, it is their coping mechanism.  However, the bad part of it is the addiction.  There are although treatment like opiate drug detox to treat the addiction for drugs but it is still best to avoid engaging in illegal drugs.  It helps though that there are effective treatments for those who are addicted to drugs. These drugs can be accessed at a mouse click away.  More than drugs however, it is the person who is receiving the treatment to have the willingness to be treated, otherwise all treatments will be futile.

PROBLEMS

Since the Super Typhoon Yolanda, everything has not been normal. Psychologically, it is traumatic since everywhere you see is associated with the effects of Yolanda.  Minor problems encountered is aggravated because the stress is always there and it is immediately aggravated by any minor problems.  When these would end is an uncertain phenomenon.  I was driving this morning when I just sobbed and cry because of a problem I remember.  The triggering element that made me cry was the big pile of debris and many small children were scavenging through them.  How hard and difficult life is. It is full of problems and stresses.  However, I came to think that I am still lucky and the people around me are still lucky because we are in good physical health.  There are many whose problems are bigger than what I have. It is a reason for me to somehow feel fine and go on with my day. I might as well meet with my friends later in the afternoon and have coffee with them.

TYPHOON YOLANDA EFFECTS

Typhoon Yolanda is an unforgettable experience.  It created a trauma in me and my kids system.  Whenever it rains as it has been and heavily lately, the fear is there that there might be a storm signal, again.  Debris are  everywhere as clearing, construction and repair operations are being conducted.  Debris could not be collected immediately along the side of the roads as there is lack of garbage equipment to collect them.  My house roofing has temporary roofing installed.  Leaks inside the  house has been contained.  Electric power connection has not been installed, yet as the electric cooperatives are still in the process of fixing the electrical wirings.  Internet access is not obtainable, as well. Cable tv connection is remote to be fixed in the next couple of months.  Almost three months now after the typhoon destructions occur but its effects are still felt and we still find it hard to adjust to it.  Until all utilities are restored, we will continue to live our lives abnormally.

BALL PLUNGERS

Repairs are all around every household.  After the typhoon, I guess everybody will be doing some sort of repairs. There is a lot of job looming ahead for repairmen and handymen.  They need tools, though in order to be efficient and effective. Tools like ball plungers, push fit plungers and the like would be a big help to them.  It is sometimes difficult to be looking around for these tools but ball plunger from this site  can be a lot of help.  It is good to know where to find the right tools where needed.  One doe not need to be looking around to find what he needs. I will remember this site also for my personal home repairs.

ROOF WOES

Typhoon Yolanda struck down at 5:00AM in Eastern Samar.  I went out of the house to shield my new car from possible damage at 5:25AM.  With my car secured, in my mind, in an open area near the subdivision gate, I went back with my son to the house amid rain and strong winds. A neighbor across my house was securing his roof when we went back.  My two sons secured the windows with tie wire that should the strong winds try top open the windows, it would have hard time doing it.  As they were finishing it, we saw the roof across the house of my neighbor who was securing them, blown by the strong wind. From upstairs, we try to see what was happening outside. We were all gripped with fear as our roofing were being tried to be uprooted by the strong winds. And we heard a big thud on the roofing and then the gush of water came in. We all went downstairs in fear of being blown away together with our roofing.  The water continued to gush down.  We gathered our wits, we pull our pails on the part where water was cascading to stop the flooding inside our living room. Next post will be the continuation of my ordeal from typhoon Yolanda.
